Kingsnakes
Here is an overview of the kingsnakes I am currently working with...
ALBINO ABBERANT
RUTHVENS KINGSNAKE
(Lampropeltis Ruthveni)
A visual example of Albino combined
with an Aberrant pattern.
ABBERANT RUTHVENS
KINGSNAKE
(Lampropeltis Ruthveni)
An Aberrant form of the typical
Ruthvens Kingsnake. At this time, I am
unsure if the Aberrant pattern is
genetic
APPLEMEL ARIZONA
MOUNTAIN
KINGSNAKE
(Lampropeltis Pyromelana
Pyromelana)
This combination is made up of the
Applegate Special and Albino
(Amelanistic) genes.
ALBINO RUTHVENS
KINGSNAKE
(Lampropeltis Ruthveni)
Also known as the Queretaro
Kingsnake. This is the Albino form,
which is a recessive gene.
The Albino Ruthvens has been a key
animal for hybrid fans by being
compatible with other Kingsnakes and
passing on the Albino gene.
MILKSNAKE PHASE
VARIABLE KINGSNAKES
(Lampropeltis Leonis)
A tricoloured variation of the variable
Kingsnake.
Also known as MSP phase.
BHB HYPO ARIZONA
MOUNTAIN
KINGSNAKES
(Lampropeltis Pyromelana
Pyromelana)
A not often seen line of recessive
hypo in the UK. The BHB Hypo turns
the black bands to a dark purple.
ALBINO ARIZONA
MOUNTAIN
KINGSNAKE
(Lampropeltis Pyromelana
Pyromelana)
The Albino gene is recessive and
removes the black bands, replacing
them with white bands.
The animals are true Pyro Albino and
have no Ruthveni blood!
APPLEGATE ARIZONA
MOUNTAIN
KINGSNAKE
(Lampropeltis Pyromelana
Pyromelana)
In 2017 I decided to add the
Applegate special phase which is a
recessive mutation that reduces the
black coloured banding. I would look
this morph up on Google and would
always be drawn to Bob Applegate’s
website.
SENTZ HYPO ARIZONA
MOUNTAIN
KINGSNAKE
(Lampropeltis Pyromelana
Pyromelana)
A beautiful line of recessive Hypo in
the Pyro morphs. There are two lines
of Hypo. Both are recessive, there is
‘BHB Hypo’ and ‘Sentz Hypo’. This line
of Hypo changed the black bands to a
beautiful gold/purple colour.
HYPO-ERYTHERISTIC
ARIZONA MOUNTAIN
KINGSNAKES
(Lampropeltis Pyromelana
Pyromelana)
The Hypo-E or Hypo-Erytheristic
morph is pretty rare in collections
within the UK. The red pigment is
washed out from its usual brilliant red
in this morph, giving the snake a pink
colouration.
GREY BANDED
KINGSNAKE
(Lampropeltis Alterna)
I keep the Alterna phase which has
thinner orange bands compared to
the Blairs phase, which has large solid
orange bands.
ORANGE VARIABLE
KINGSNAKE
(Lampropeltis Leonis)
An orange variation of the Variable
Kingsnake. Variable Kingsnakes, are as
the name suggests variable in colours
and patterns as you can see from
some of the examples of the snakes
on this page.
SILVER VARIABLE
KINGSNAKE
(Lampropeltis Leonis)
A silver variation of the Variable
Kingsnake. The Variable Kingsnake is
also referred to Thayers, Thayeri, or
Leonis Kingsnakes. They are a true
box of chocolate snake, as you never
truly know what you will hatch from
each clutch of eggs.
ARIZONA MOUNTAIN
KINGSNAKES
(Lampropeltis Pyromelana
Pyromelana)
A species of Kingsnake that I first got
back in 1998. I was immediately
hooked on them. And only dreamt of
adding the morphs that started
popping up in the USA.
CALIFORNIA
KINGSNAKE
(Lampropeltic Californiae
The Kingsnake Species that got me
started. The Cali-King comes in a wide
variety of patterns, colours and
locales. Our animals are considered
as High Whites in colour and Banded
as a pattern.
MELANISTIC VARIABLE
KINGSNAKE
(Lampropeltis Leonis)
The melanistic gene is the only true
recessive gene in Variable Kingsnakes.
This turns the snake completely black.
But in some cases you can vaguely
make out the banding pattern if you
look close enough.
YELLOW / GREEN
VARIABLE KINGSNAKE
(Lampropeltis Leonis)
A yellow/green variation of the
Variable Kingsnake.
